The development objective of the Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Project is to enhance the capacity of MPUDC to improve coverage of key urban services and increase the revenue of participating urban local bodies. Some of the negative impacts include: i) loss of trees and vegetation; ii) increased dust levels due to earth work excavation and construction activities; iii) hazards due to storage of chemicals; iv) loss of fertile top soil of the Agriculture Lands; v) damage to roads and standing crops during break down of the transmission main; vi) increased air pollution and noise levels during construction; vii) projection or depression of manhole covers on the road surface causing inconvenience to public; leading to accident; viii) leakage causes nuisance; Some of the migration measures include : i) compensatory tree planting of trees double the number of trees cut; ii) immediate shifting of excavated earth; iii) training to operators on storage and usage of chemicals; iv) preserve the topsoil removed and replace the topsoil back after completion of construction activity; v) reinstatement of Road surface in earliest possible time and adequate provisions for compensation to the affected land owners during maintenance works; vi) preventive maintenance of equipment and vehicles to meet emission standards and noise control; vii) proper planning of road construction with fixing the formation level; viii) leaks should be identifies and rectified then and there.
