Despite disappointing growth in 2016, global economic activity is expected to improve slightly in 2017 and beyond, led by a growth recovery in emerging-market and developing economies. Global growth in 2016 was estimated at 2.3 percent, much lower than before, mostly as a result of slower growth in commodity exporters in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.
